Waste2Energy Initiative

BIDRA's Waste2Energy Integrated Waste Management Initiative is our main catalyst for our Zero Waste2Landfill Initiative. Our process is simple and yet sophisticated enough to offer a safe, and technologically advanced means of Waste Disposal while generating Clean and Reliable renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting our Recycling2Reuse initiative.

Waste Management Process Simplified:
  1. Municipal Solid Waste and/or Medical Waste is delivered into our facility and dumped in our Tipping Floor.

  2. The waste passes through our Materials Recovery Facility where the waste is separated into Recyclables, Organic and Refuse-Derived Fuel.

  3. Our Gasification units are then fed manually with a front end loader. The volume of waste loaded into the units is electronically monitored for maximum efficiency.

  4. Our Gasification (Thermal Combustion) process is a two stage process: 1) Gasification - conversion of solid fuel to gaseous fuels in an oxygen deficient environment; 2) Combustion of Gaseous Fuels - at a minimum of 1,100 C.

  5. Air Pollution Control (APC) Systems treat combustion gases.

  6. The Heat Recovery Steam Generator heat steam in boilers.

  7. Steam is delivered from boilers to Steam turbines.

  8. Steam turbine produces energy and/or other fuels.

  9. Air cooled Condensers converts steam to water for completion of cycle.

Zero Waste2Landfill Initiative

Our Commitment

Many providers promise they can help you avoid landfill disposal through their Waste-to-Energy (W2E) but none can offer you a guaranteed option that your Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Bio-medical Waste will be accepted 100% of the time. Since BIDRA owns and operates its W2E facilities, we can guarantee the capacity for waste at one of our facilities. If you are already working with a third-party waste hauler and doing it independently, BIDRA gives you the option that you never have to compromise your Zero Waste2Landfill commitment.

Environmental Footprint Improvement Programs (EFIP)

After the waste passes through our recycling waste separation process, the remaining waste materials go directly through our Zero Waste2Landfills Gasification solution. The materials are used to generate clean, renewable energy.  Our W2E facilities perform better than what is allowed by government permits while providing ferrous and non-ferrous metals recycling. W2E can offer you serious greenhouse gas and waste lifecycle benefits resulting in less environmental impact than disposing of them in a landfill.

Recycle2Reuse Initiative

Our Commitment

BIDRA's team members have been closely involved in the design, development, implementation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) for processing Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) since the introduction of MRFs in the 1980s. They understand how fully automated MSW Sorting Systems can provide a significant improvement to traditional MRF operations by processing materials that are typically bound for a landfill. It is estimated that as much as 40% of most MSW streams could be recovered in the form of paper, plastics, wood, and metals, as well as an additional 30-40% in the form of organic materials.

An all-inclusive mixed solid waste processing system employs sophisticated front-end sorting technology to recover commodities with value for resale or reuse. The remaining MSW can be segregated to isolate organics, providing feedstock for an anaerobic digestion system. BIDRA's Recycle2Reuse all-inclusive system creates value by recovering additional commodities for sale, saving your organization disposal and transportation costs, and preparing the organic fraction for use in an energy development process.
